Distribution Central has announced the appointment of Mark Hill to lead its ACT branch. “Distribution Central has grown significantly since its inception in 2004 and our ACT branch is an important part of ensuring that we continue to provide our unique channel services – professional services, pre-sales support, and custom-designed and built Software-as-a-Services solutions – direct to our Canberra-based channel partners,” said Nick Verykios, Managing Director of Distribution Central. Mark Hill was most recently Regional Manager ACT for Wilson Security, managing key accounts, the operations of the ACT branch and growing the business through new customer acquisition. He has also run his own businesses and experienced first-hand the business needs of end users.

New partner program aims to empower vendors to deliver data protection and snapshot management capabilities.

Data protection company, CommVault, has launched its new IntelliSnap Connect Program - an open development program that enables disk array vendors to integrate their array-based snapshot solutions with the SnapProtect module in CommVault Simpana software.

The new partner program will help vendors deliver data protection and snapshot management capabilities.  The availability of the program means CommVault now has a comprehensive compatability matrix for hardware snapshot management, without custom scripting or solution modification.

Prospective partners are provided a software development kit that allows them to integrate their storage systems with Simpana software and, upon completion of the program, achieve Qualified IntelliSnapT Connect Array status.

Similar to other vendors, NetApp have experienced a negative impact to their drive costs due to the recent flooding in Thailand.  While cost increases were initially absorbed, NetApp is no longer able to do so.  Effective February 6, 2012, there will be a temporary increase in HDD list prices from 5-15% over current pricing.  Please make sure that your customers are aware of the upcoming price increase.  We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves and will provide updates as appropriate.  Thank you for your continued partnership.

All FAS2020-related product numbers are being phased out.  Starting with the May 2011 Quote Tool release, all FAS2020 and FAS2040 Flexible Configuration systems and FAS2040 QuickStart Bundles will no longer be available for ordering.  Moving forward, existing FAS2020 customers are encouraged to consider the FAS2040 customers are encouraged to consider the FAS2040 fixed bundles or the recently announced FAS2240 systems to meet their needs.

Although we are announcing the end of availability of these products, NetApp will continue to support them for a limited time. The effective end of availability, end of support, and last ship dates for all NetApp products are on the End of Availability page on the NetApp Support (formerly NOW) site.
